This is basically pita breads and garbanzo beans casserole , it is very popular in Lebanon some people call it fatta and other call it tisiqyeh .
Prep time 15 min cook time 30min Level easy
Ingredients
2 cups of dry garbanzo beans
2 cups of yogurt
2 tbsp tahini (sesame seeds paste )
1 tbsp of lemon juice
1 to 2 cloves of garlic
4 pieces of pita bread (toasted)
1 tbsp of vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp of baking soda
salt as desired
1 tbsp pine nuts or more (optional)
Direction
soak the garbanzo beans in warm water the night before.
In pot add about 2 litter of water, beans and baking powder, cook until the beans are soft add salt as desire
In bowl mix the yogurt , tahini , lemon juice , and garlic with a little bit of salt.
break the toasted bread in small pieces and spread it in deep plate then layer it with the garbanzo beans , now add the beans broth that you have from boiling the beans until the bread is soaked, then add layer of the yogurt mix.
In pan heat the shortening until it get really hot now add the pine nuts and fry ( it does not need more then 30 seconds because the oil is very hot at this point) then pour the shortening with the nuts on top of the fatta .
Note this is a very simple and delicious , eat it when it still hot . and biting into fresh onion or some pickled pepper while having this meal makes it extra delicious.

As a Spanish woman, married to a Lebanese, I used this recipe to make this dish that my mother-in-law used to do. Great instructions that make it easy to follow.
