Sabanigh (spinach)

Spinach with Meat balls

This is a very simple dish with a lot of flavor .

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs of frozen chopped spinach
  • about 1 lbs of ground beef (20 % fat )
  • 1 tsp of 7 spices
  • 1/3 tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups of yogurt
  • 1 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • salt

Direction

  1. In a bowl mix well the meat with the 7 spices , black pepper and cinnamon and of course some salt about 1 tsp or as desired.
  2. From the meat mix make a meatballs smaller then the stander meatball size, now heat the oil and fry the meat balls about 5 to 8 minutes then add the spinach sprinkle a little of the 7 spices ,add salt as desired stir the meat and the spinach for about 5 minutes now cover and let it cook on medium to low heat .
  3. in another bowl mix yogurt garlic and a little of salt , this is going to be a sauce on the side .
  4. In about 25 minute the spinach should be cooked or until you see the color of the spinach changed .served with the yogurt sauce and the Lebanese basic rice .
